This official commemoration is hosted by Erie County, in conjunction with West Seneca AmeriCorps. Erie County would like to honor our local volunteers, who so willingly give of themselves day in and day out. They work to ensure that our community is safer. They leave the house each day, never knowing whether they´ll make it home for dinner. It is a tough profession - so often thankless.
This year our theme for 9-11 will be a "Day of Public Service Recognition" to make sure that our volunteers understand our appreciation. Western New York would love to have as many firefighters, EMS personnel and police officers as possible as guests at this ceremony, honoring those volunteers who work to make our community safer.
